An error code 9 means that the program is unable to locate the user data folder numbershark-shared, which is located on your server and created when you run the MSI (Stage 1 of the network instructions).
This is normally due to:
and/or
If installing, please re-read “Stage 3” of the installation instructions which describe ho to create a desktop icon.
An Error Code 9 will occur if you attempt to run directly from the executable within the numbershark-programs folder. Our programs must be launched from a client machine’s desktop icon or equivalent, that can point the “start-in” path to the working directory, wordshark-shared.
This “start-in” address should be a short UNC path, e.g. \\server\numbershark-shared which is created at “Stage 1” of the network instructions, under “Advanced Sharing”. Whilst looking at “Stage 1”, also check that the correct “security” setting is applied.
The “numbershark-shared” is CASE SENSITIVE. For example the program will not recognise Numbershark-Shared. Use only lower-case letters for the folder numbershark-shared and also within the start-in path of the shortcut’s properties.
The start-in must NOT be a mapped drive address. Note that a numbershark-shared location that is on the root of the server c: drive is normally blocked through group policies.
Check the client computer is connected to the domain. Rarely, lack of contact with the server can result in this error code.
