Error codes 34 and 271 for Wordshark5 and Numbershark 5 Networks
Edition 26-3-2019
Error code 34 indicates a corrupted licence file.
Error code 271 is an error in writing data, which can be the case if the White Space Network Service isn’t able to read and write to the licence file because it has become corrupted.
Though rare, either can happen if the server has been rebooted unexpectedly, for example due to a power cut or emergency updates, while the licence file was being updated.
To resolve this, check the numbershark-shared and wordshark-shared data folders have the correct permissions set, in case these have been altered:
- NTFS/Folder permissions set to read/write/modify/delete as a minimum for all users (Security tab set for “Full Control” for “Everyone” usually ensures this)
- The folder has been shared through Sharing tab, ‘Advanced sharing’ and permissions set to ‘Full control’ for ‘Everyone’
Then:
- Locate the ‘White Space Network Service’ in ‘Local services’ on the server
- Right click the service and select ‘Properties’
- Amend the start-up type to ‘manual’
- Stop the service if it is running
- Locate the numbershark-shared folder (and/or) wordshark-shared folder
- Delete any ‘Config’ folders
- Delete the D9SLD83.xml file (from both folders if you have both programs)
- Locate the ‘White Space Network Service’ again and start the service again
- Once it starts open the numbershark program, THEN the wordshark program.
- This should recreate the licence files from back up or release it so you can reactivate the licences again
- Open the White Space Network Manager program on the server.
- If set to Activate then reactivate the licence
- If set to Change the licence has been restored, and all should be well.
